Consistent with the Governor’s directives to limit social contact in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19, the City’s Insurance Safety Director has recommended that the playground at All Wars Memorial Park be closed until further notice. The recommendation from the Joint Insurance Fund and the Governor’s directives do not allow the City the ability to keep the playground open. The rigorous cleaning regime and staffing requirements are impossible to execute with a staff already pulled in so many directions. The Park, Fields and Bike Path remain open as the belief is proper social distancing can still occur. Our Police are constantly monitoring these amenities to enforce the Governor’s directives on social distancing. If we believe that these rules are not being followed, then it will be recommended that these be closed. Thank you for your cooperation.
